以一張正面肖像照和一張側面照，所組成的典型囚犯照片，配合仔細描述的犯人面部特徵紀錄，以便用於罪犯管理建檔和辨識分析。這個現今聽起來再普通不過的犯罪調查常識，是來自在19世紀末發展出一套人體測量學、重新給予人類臉孔定義的一個名字——艾爾峰思‧貝迪詠 (Alphonse Bertillon) ，罪犯的午夜夢靨。

怎樣的攝影具有政治性？這是一個難以清楚界定的問題，因為對「政治性」的定義或理解，可以嚴謹或寬鬆，而通過攝影表現政治話語的方式，則包羅萬象。不過，針對政治事件或者政治題材的照片，卻不一定有政治性。

In contemporary art, photographical elements are often integrated into installation works or being used as a means of archiving.
